Victorian Young Leaders to India
The Victorian Young Leaders India virtual program aims to develop student's global citizenship and leadership capabilities over a six-week journey. This program is designed for Year 9 students to allow them to live and work as global citizens and future leaders in a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected and globalised. The program enables students to develop their intercultural capability, form new friendships and implement design thinking to develop STEM projects. It also involves completing an inquiry-led project and design challenge to address a real-world issue related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Students also work together to build intercultural capability by completing the Global Competence Certificate (GCC), an online 10 module program with live online reflective sessions. Guided interaction sessions to build understanding of culture, life and school in Australia and India will also be delivered as part of the program.
In preparing and to set the context for students, a pre-program session is delivered to provide students with an opportunity to bond as a team. This session helps participants understand program requirements and expectations and provides an insight into the six-week journey.

Connections between the youths in Victoria and India further strengthen bilateral relationships between the two countries and help students develop the skills they need to thrive in the future workforce.
The program helps students build upon their global competencies and gives them the opportunity to learn about Indian culture and traditions through regular virtual interactions with students abroad.

Equip your students for a global future
This program offers a unique opportunity for students to complete a six-week journey learning side by side with students in schools in India and connecting with the Indian diaspora community in Victoria.
Teachers joining the program are offered professional development, including access to the Global Competence Certificate online program to build their intercultural capability and professional learning on the design challenge framework. Additionally, teachers in Australia and India have the opportunity to learn from each other and build their professional network.
What are the Phases of the Virtual Program?

pre-program phase, prepares students and teachers for the program. This phase focuses on building program-specific knowledge, setting and understanding program expectations and an overall introduction to the six-week journey ahead.
six-week program, includes an opening forum (in-person for Victorian students and teachers), a design challenge and inquiry-led project, sessions on intercultural capabilities and peer learning, and development of global competences.
post-program phase, includes a closing student forum to showcase the program achievements and provides an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments and success of participating students and teachers. It also facilitates reflection and sharing of learning to sustain the skills developed, promotes the program to prospective students and teachers, and supports continued engagement with India and Australia.

The Victorian Young Leaders to China (VYLC) Program is award winning, six-week in-country immersion program for Year 9 students, designed to help prepare them to live and work as global citizens and future leaders in a more inter-connected world.
The program is a life-changing opportunity for students and teachers to live and attend school in China. Combining language and cultural learning with personal development and leadership skills, the program focuses on one of Australia’s main trading partners, China.
To provide flexibility and encourage wide participation across Government, Catholic and Independent schools, three program options are available in 2019.
